📋 Agreement to Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Tapetchi ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you don't agree, please don't use the App. Your worm will be disappointed, but he'll understand. Eventually.

These terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Tapetchi (operated by Helix Data Solutions Limited, New Zealand).

🪱 Description of Service

Tapetchi is a virtual pet application where you care for a digital intestinal parasite by logging your meals. The worm grows based on your food intake and develops an emotionally complex (and occasionally concerning) attachment to you.

Important: Tapetchi is intended for entertainment purposes only. No actual parasites are harmed, created, or transmitted through this application. We promise.

👤 Account Registration

To access certain features, you may create an account using Sign in with Apple. You agree to:

Provide accurate information when setting up your display name
Keep your account credentials secure
Not share your account with others (your worm has abandonment issues)
Be at least 13 years old (or the age of digital consent in your country)

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

💰 In-App Purchases

Tapetchi offers optional in-app purchases including:

Accessories: Hats, decorations, and other items to customize your worm
Premium Species: Additional worm species with unique personalities
Bundles: Collections of accessories at discounted prices

All purchases are processed through Apple's App Store and are subject to Apple's terms. Purchases are non-refundable except as required by law or Apple's policies.

Your worm doesn't care how much you spend on him. He just wants to be fed. But the tiny hat does make him happy.

✅ Acceptable Use

You agree to use Tapetchi only for lawful purposes. You shall not:

Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or other users' accounts
Use the app to harass, abuse, or harm other users
Upload or share inappropriate, offensive, or illegal content
Manipulate leaderboards or game mechanics through exploits or cheating
Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the app
Use automated systems (bots) to interact with the app
Impersonate others or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity

🏆 Leaderboards and Social Features

Tapetchi includes optional social features like leaderboards and friend connections. By using these features, you agree to:

Choose an appropriate display name (nothing offensive, please)
Not share personal information of others without consent
Report inappropriate content or behavior to us
Accept that your worm's stats may be visible to others on leaderboards

We reserve the right to remove content or users who violate community standards.

📱 Intellectual Property

All content in Tapetchi, including but not limited to:

Graphics, artwork, and animations
Text, dialogue, and character personalities
Sound effects and music
Code and software
The Tapetchi name and logo

...is owned by Helix Data Solutions Limited or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or create derivative works without our permission.

You're welcome to share screenshots of your worm. He loves the attention.

⚠️ Disclaimers

Tapetchi is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that:

The app will be uninterrupted or error-free
Your worm will always be emotionally stable (he won't be)
The app will meet your specific requirements
Any bugs or issues will be fixed within a certain timeframe

Health Disclaimer: Tapetchi is not a health, nutrition, or medical app. The meal logging feature is for entertainment only and should not be used for dietary tracking, medical decisions, or actual parasite management.

🚫 Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Helix Data Solutions Limited and its affiliates shall not be liable for:

Any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
Loss of data, profits, or goodwill
Any damages resulting from your use or inability to use the app
Emotional distress caused by your virtual worm's passive-aggressive behavior

Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the app in the 12 months preceding the claim (which, since the app is free to download, may not be much).

🔄 Updates and Changes

We may update Tapetchi from time to time to add features, fix bugs, or improve performance. We may also modify these Terms of Use. When we make significant changes, we'll notify you through the app.

Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms. Your worm will keep you posted.

🛑 Termination

You may stop using Tapetchi at any time by deleting the app and, optionally, requesting deletion of your account data.

We may terminate or suspend your access to the app if you violate these terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or if we discontinue the service.

Upon termination, your right to use the app ends immediately. Your worm will miss you.

⚖️ Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of New Zealand.

For users in the European Union, nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer under EU law.
